About The Englishtown Project
On September 3rd, 1977, the Grateful Dead headlined one of the largest and most musically successful concerts of all time at Raceway Park in Englishtown N.J. In addition to the Dead, who had just completed its legendary Spring / Summer 1977 tour featuring a batch of new material from Terrapin Station, the show also included the Dead family’s New Riders of the Purple Sage and the good-time, southern rock Marshall Tucker Band. This tribute extravaganza will feature healthy “doses” of selections from each band’s sets that day with a relaxed, festival-style program.
The lineup brings together Michael Falzarano (Hot Tuna, New Riders) on guitar, Rob Wolfson (Dead Sage, Illuminati) on guitar, Tom Circosta (Zen Tricksters, Jam Stampede) on guitar, John Pittas (Dead On Live) on keyboards, Klyph Black (Zen Tricksters, Jam Stampede) on bass, Dave Diamond (Zen Tricksters, Assembly Of Dust) on drums, Sandy Mack (Jamily AllStars) and Clare Maloney (David Bryan and Friends, Rainbow Full Of Sound) on vocals.
About the Venue
Arguably one of the greatest rock venues on earth, The Stone Pony has been the anchor of the Asbury Park music scene since they opened their doors back in 1974. Locals like Bruce Springsteen, Southside Johnny and Steve Van Zandt helped put them on the map, while today’s top artists and rising stars continue building their legacy.
