Black Masala

Washington, DC

Brassy Washington DC-based multicultural outfit, Black Masala,
is part of the new generation of go-anywhere brass bands.

Think about the best concerts you’ve attended and chances are you had a lot of fun, dancing and smiling throughout the show. This is exactly the kind of vibe you will experience when Black Masala is performing live. Performing hundreds of shows a year has helped Washington, DC’s gypsy funk n’ brass band hone their sound, while injecting it with a healthy dose of soul and eclectic grooves. Black Masala is all about having fun!

In 2015 Black Masala released their second studio album, I Love You Madly as well as 3 volumes of remixes. I Love You Madly was well received and reached #2 on the CMJ World Chart and #4 on Canada’s national Earshot radio chart.

2018 will see the release of their newest album Trains and Moonlight Destinies with plans to tour in full support of the album.

Black Masala are having a lot of fun incorporating various musical influences into their go-anywhere sound. Ranging from Gypsy punk, Balkan brass and New Orleans funk, to Bhangra and bounce, this is an album for the multicultural music listener. The heavy horns and danceable rhythms tie together and create a show that attracts a wide range of audiences.

The band has not let up since their inception 5 years ago, touring heavily with their infectious live show to clubs and festivals up and down the East Coast. 2018 sees the band reaching new heights and new regions with some exciting tour dates. New fans will be hooked and those already familiar with the band will be excited to hear and see the new show and songs.
