Featuring Erin Harpe on acoustic guitar, foot percussion and kazoo / Jim Countryman on ukulele bass / and Jason Novak on harmonica, The Messers are a must-see roots/blues/Americana act on the rise!Singer/guitarist Erin Harpe is quickly becoming a favorite rising star in the blues scene, with a growing fan base around the world. She’s been called “one of the most dynamic, talented and exciting roots rocking blues women on the scene” by Living Blues Magazine, and has been compared to legendary blues women like Rory Block and Bonnie Raitt – the Midwest Record proclaiming she is “easily Bonnie Raitt on modern performance enhancing drugs,” adding “Harpe is blues mama for our times!” In 2019 Erin has already been tearing it up, competing solo in the International Blues Challenge in January (where she made it to the Semi-Finals!), and recently completing her second successful UK tour with her acoustic duo. This summer she’ll be hitting festivals and clubs in the US from Massachusetts to Illinois, West Virginia to Pennsylvania and beyond, and also working on her new album coming out later this year!
Erin has released 5 critically acclaimed blues albums, including her three most recent with her electric band Erin Harpe & the Delta Swingers on the VizzTone Label. “Love Whip Blues” (2014) received 4 stars in DownBeat Magazine and airplay around the world, including SiriusXM’s Bluesville, and the band’s sophomore album “Big Road” (2017) made the TOP TEN in Roots Music Report’s Contemporary Blues Albums chart, the iTop Top 100 Blues Albums AND Relix Jamband Radio Charts. Erin also released her first holiday album in November, “The Christmas Swing” (2018), which was a big hit, making it to #2 on the Roots Music Report’s Top 50 Holiday Album Charts, as well as #17 on the Living Blues Charts in December 2018! Erin’s other releases include the solo acoustic album “Blues Roots” (2002), “Delta Blues Duets” (2008) – an album of duets with her dad – as well as an instructional guitar DVD, “Women of the Country Blues Guitar” (2016, through Stefan Grossman’s Guitar Workshop), and also 6 albums with her world music inspired dance rock band Lovewhip.
