Simon Says Booking March Newsletter

So a friend recently told me “March, winter is almost over!” My response, since we live in central New England “You forgot about April.” But, the weather is starting to brighten, temperatures are warming and festival season is just around the corner. We are so happy to be working with all of you to bring the highest quality bands to your events.

So many things are happening with the roster of late. We are very proud to announce the return of the best World Music guitarist on the planet, Fareed Haque. We will be working in a variety of formats, and lately Fareed has been concentrating on the Flat Earth Ensemble. But, we can book a variety of lineup options from straight and smooth jazz to hard funk in the form of the Funk Brothers, classical accompaniment, a Latin ensemble, or anything you might wish to have in world music with the master of the guitar. A West Coast tour is completely booked for May, and we’re looking into June and beyond to book in the Midwest, East, and all over the world!

We are routing Midwest tour dates for Erin Harpe and the Delta Swingers and their other band Lovewhip this July as they come to Kankakee, IL on July 26, and we are seeking other dates in proximity. There are plenty of opportunities to have them in the Northeast in the coming months. The band is hitting Texas as a duo July 14 and 15 for Tall City Blues festival and has some dates that they can stop in to Lone Star with you.

New to the roster is Michigan’s the Insiders: Tom Petty Tribute Band. The band is phenomenal, and we could not be happier to be working with them. We are seeking out options in the upper Midwest including Michigan for May 9, June 6-8 weekend, plus Aug 22-23 (looking to route through northern MI), Aug 29-31, Sep 12-13, 26-27, Oct 10-12, 20, 24-26, and beyond. Their devotion to the songbook and the exact reproduction of the sound is impeccable, and we can’t wait to bring them to y’all.

The Englishtown Project is kicking butt, and fans are really digging their potent mixture of the Marshall Tucker Band, New Riders of the Purple Sage, and the Grateful Dead. Their tribute to the historic concert in NJ in 1977 can’t be beat, and it’s time to bring them to your area. Great ticket sales in Brooklyn, Asbury Park NJ, Long Island, and Philadelphia is spiraling outward and will soon be coming your way.

The Skatalites are honored to announce that they are on the official 25th Anniversary show for the Vans’ Warped Tour in Atlantic City, NJ at the end of June. In the meantime, we have Midwestern opportunities to go with plays in Chicago and holds in Minneapolis and Springfield, IL – seeking options for June 2 – 12 time frame to go with those holds. After that, they will be hitting the Mid Atlantic and TN / KY and beyond along with SEP 1 in Cookeville TN. The band is celebrating their 55th anniversary.

The Alchemystics are about to play their first shows in a few months at the end of March. The band is in the cocoon and writing new music, playing with new and returning players, and continue to book shows. We have them already confirming festivals and concert series, and New England’s favorite collective mixing elements of soul, reggae, rock and hip hop is going strong.

DeadPhish Orchestra is in the midst of a great month that is taking them to every corner of this great nation. The band is exactly what it sounds like, an excellent mix of Phish and the Grateful Dead- and we are booking Fall here shortly.

Speaking of tributes, Start Making Sense has become America’s #1 Talking Heads tribute and and for good reason. We are completely booked for the summer through around Labor Day and we’ll be getting to work on the Fall for the rest of the month and likely will be done with 2019 before you know it. Get on board or get left behind, on the road to nowhere, without a great gig with Start Making Sense. Nobody wants that.

Thunder and Rain are on tour in the UK right now and we are setting down dates for them for the rest of 2019. The band hails from Golden CO and is touring all over, and we are seeking out shows in AZ, NM, CO, UT, ID, OH, MN, IL, IN, and beyond. Their viral video is now nearing 6.5 million views and is getting 250K+ a month.

Max Creek have just released a brand new album, 45 and Live- their first album in many many moons. We are booking summer and fall for them now, and the list of 48th anniversary shows portends great fun to come.
