Simon Says Booking December Newsletter

Wow: Winter came in like a lion, eh? And with it come the ski area shows, and they have begun already. Thank you to everyone who works with us, from musicians to buyers to publicists, bartenders, ski lift operators, and major music fans who make this whole scene possible.

Congratulations go out to Freekbass and the Bump Assembly for picking up what must be their 50th Cincinnati Entertainment Award (Best Funk or R&B band) this last weekend. The first shows featuring special guest Sammi Garett have been super funky and funkcessful, and we look forward to many more to come. We’ve got Freekbass in Vermont on March 02 and we’re seeking out March 01 in New England. And there are plenty of dates this winter and fall for you all to get funky!

We are so proud of our decades long relationship with Chicago’s favorite band, Bumpus. Our relationship goes all the way back toward Y2K (remember that?) and we continue to love their music. They have a new album out, and we’re booking shows throughout the Midwest for them.

We are very proud to announce our latest signing, DeadPhish Orchestra out of Colorado. The band is exactly what you think it is, and they are great! We’re already booking them around the US including a mid winter confirmed run in the northeast, a run confirming presently in Florida (March 8 – 10 confirmed in Southern FL, seeking March 7 or 6 in Florida) and beyond.

Another new addition for us is indie rock duo Muddy Ruckus. Don’t let their minimal personnel count fool you, the band packs a punch as is evidenced by the flurry of shows agent Sue Paquet has booked from them across the country already. Easy to use, affordable and on the rise, Muddy Ruckus is a band you should check out.

Agent Steve Benson is busily booking Erin Harpe and the Delta Swingers who are celebrating the release of their new holiday album, the Christmas Swing. The band has plenty of avails this winter from mid January on and after a season of concert series and blues festivals, audiences are eager to catch them in the warm confines of clubs this winter. AND!! Lovewhip is back and ready to do shows, too!

Black Masala has a new album and video out, and there is a ton of press being generated by their campaign, which is being spearheaded by Rock Paper Scissors. We’re currently booking winter club and series dates and are setting down interest for next festival season.

Swift Technique have just released a brand new single and video, titled MAINLINE. Local Philly celebrity Aunt Terri, is hilarious. The band is currently regularly touring from the Carolinas up to Maine, so anyone on the East coast Mainline, we’re ready for you.

The Englishtown Project have set up a super solid footing with premier shows in PA, NY, NJ, New England, and beyond. Featuring members of New Riders of the Purple Sage, the Zen Tricksters, Hot Tuna, Assembly of Dust, Dead Center All Stars and more, the band is truly amazing. Paying tribute to the SEP 1977 Englishtown Raceway show, the band covers the material of everyone on that bill including Marshall Tucker Band, New Riders of the Purple Sage, and the Grateful Dead. Michael Falzarano reports that NRPS sage fans are turning up in droves. We’re setting down shows for February – April now and into festival season.
