rice – an American Band formed over the last five years from a collection of Pioneer Valley musicians and friends. In that time they have performed at area clubs and festivals including Jerry Jam, Wormtown, Harry’s Hill, StrangeCreek, and more. The band plays originals written by Phil Simon over the last 25 years and more recently have begun to write songs together. Added to their set are covers both known and mysterious from bands ranging from Warren Zevon to Cage the Elephant and more. Featuring the vocals of Simon, bassist Lauryn Winiarski, and multi-instrumentalist Steve Benson, plus contributions from every member of the band, rice is striving to produce an evocative and original show, with flair and drive. “We hope that in any show the audience can come away with a good idea of the strengths and unique talents of each band member.”About Dark Horse
