Hawks and Reed

GREENFIELD, MA: Hawks and Reed Performing Arts Center is pleased to announce the second of its monthly Super Star Open Mic Nights. Hosted by Phil Simon of Simon Says Booking and the Old 78 Farm Festival, the monthly showcases launch was a massive success, and its creators hope to keep the momentum flowing throughout each month. The Super Star Open Mic features the local legends of the Western Massachusetts music scene as well as anyone from the general public who wants to participate alongside them. The event will take place Thursday, August 31st, 2017 at 8:30 in the Arts Block Ballroom on the first floor. Slots for each performer will be around ten minutes.

The inaugural event was a smash hit, with dozens of people filling the first floor of Hawks and Reed. Not only did everyone who wanted to get to perform onstage, but about half a dozen of the "Super Stars" performed a raucous version of "Feel Like Makin' Love" by Bad Company at the end of the night that had everyone in the crowd singing along. (Video link here.) The organizers of this open mic wish to keep the good vibes of the first evening going throughout the coming months.

This event is free and has a lineup featuring Courtney Parker of rice: an American Band, Kristian St. John of Llama Lasagne, and more to be announced.
