Troy
"Back Home Blues"
Thursday residency ft. legendary blues guitarist
Troy Gonyea at Bull Mansion, Worcester

WORCESTER, MA In honor and celebration of Worcester's unique musical heritage, Bull Mansion presents the "Back Home Blues" series, featuring blues legend Troy Gonyea. Troy will be joined by an all-star line-up of blues players and special guest Jon Short opens the night.

Worcester legend Troy Gonyea is a Blues and American Roots guitarist, singer/songwriter. Gonyea made his mark locally at the tender age of 15, left his Central MA roots to play across the country, and eventually toured around the world. Touting an impressive resume as a "next generation" blues artist, he has played, toured and/or recorded with many notable acts, such as Booker T Jones, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Marc Ford and the Muddy Waters' Band.

Gonyea will be joined by a truly all-star line-up of world-class blues players. The band will feature Troy on guitar, vocals and harmonica along with Brooks Milgate on upright piano and Hammond organ. Also playing are Marty Richards on drums, who has played alongside such bands as Joe Perry Project, J. Geils Band, Dizzy Gillespie, among tons of others. Marty Ballou will play bass; Ballou's career includes playing with Room Full of Blues and many more.

Fellow Worcester legend Big Jon Short will be opening the night. Armed with foot percussion, a National Reso-phonic Guitar and Lowebow cigar-box reso-hillharp, Short's high energy solo performances bring a foot-stomping show that taps into the heart of the songs, regional styles, and folklore of the Blues and its importance to American music. The school teacher and local native was awarded the 2010 Worcester Cultural Commission Artist Fellowship for his work as a Blues performer and educator.

This much anticipated residency will be held at Worcester's Bull Mansion on Thursdays through the end of February, starting January 19 (possibly to be extended). Each week will feature different BBQ dishes for only $10 each, from Chef Gary Ankin.
