June 29

MILFORD, NH: Warwick, MA-based “JAMericana” ensemble rice - an American Band makes their debut at the Loft event space in Milford, NH on Friday, June 29th. Doors open at 8pm, and the show starts at 9:30pm.

About rice - An American Band
Rice: an American Band’s sound is steeped in Americana and are not afraid to wander into jam and rock explorations. A fluid outfit fronted vocally by Courtney Parker and Phil Simon, they have recently added singer Emily Jones to the mix. They are joined by Joshua Leach and Brian DiMartino on guitar and a variety of gunslingers including newcomer Lauryn Winiarski on bass and Kyle Heon on drums. Each show may feature different regional musicians and the lineup is ever-changing. The performance at the Loft will be their first at that venue and serves as a preview of what’s to come at their upcoming appearance at Jerry Jam in Bath, NH a few weeks later.

rice logoThe members of rice have played recently at the Middle East in Cambridge, MA, the Snow Barn at Mount Snow in VT, Bishop’s Lounge in Northampton, MA, and Hawks & Reed Performing Arts Center in Greenfield, MA. They’ve also made appearances at the Wormtown and Strangecreek music festivals in Greenfield, as well as the Old 78 Farm Fall festival from 2015-2018. They self-released a video for their single “Mighty River” (lyrics by Drew Peters, music by Phil Simon). This band includes members of many of the finest bands in the valley including: Llama Lasagne, Rodd Cummings and the Vibrators, Shiprock and Anchordog, the Jon Carroll Band, Chad Hollister Band, former members of Outer Stylie, and more.

In their short three years together, they have already been featured on festival, club, and ski resort stages throughout the Northeast including Jerry Jam, Alive and Dead festival, Adventure Jam, and even the Redneck Olympics. The band focuses on original music written by Simon, Parker, and DiMartino presently, but also incorporate covers from Bob Marley, Pink Floyd, the Flaming Lips, the Dead, Soundgarden, and more obscure artists. Expect them to jump up and down during the show, make bedroom eyes at the audience, and then there's the sweat- usually lots of sweat.

"We are so thrilled that in such a short period of time this band has taken flight. Venues and festivals alike have asked us back for new gigs, and the band is really connecting with audiences," says one band member. You can sample their current sound at their Soundcloud page and see their upcoming plans on their Facebook page.
